Spring has truly sprung at one of the Bay Area’s leading plant nurseries—Annie’s Annuals & Perennials! From humble beginnings as a backyard hobby 15 years ago, "Annie's" has slowly evolved into a 2 ½-acre "growing" nursery right here in Richmond, California!

"I've lived in Richmond for 30 years and love the down home feel, the views, the parks and of course, the coolest folks in the Bay Area!" says Annie Hayes, Owner of Annie’s Annuals and Perennials.

For fellow "Plant-a-Holics," Annie’s fascinating and breathtaking plants may be purchased on site, Tuesdays thru Sundays, from 10:00 am -5:00 pm at 740 Market Street in Richmond. Mail order shopping is also available. This Richmond organization also provides plants to about 60 Northern California independent retail nurseries; so you’ll undoubtedly see its quality plants throughout the Bay Area!

Annie’s takes pride in growing most of its plants the old fashioned way—from seed—in the wind, rain and sun (no greenhouses), so your plants are already "hardened off," healthy and strong when you take them home. The plants are grown in 4" pots without the use of growth regulating hormones, commonly sprayed on almost all annuals and most perennials by large scale growers. These growth regulators slow plant growth and extend "shelf life" but can lead to disappointing results in your prized gardens.

At Annie’s the selections of plants are not only for their beauty and/or fragrance, but most often for the natural grace and charm they add to gardens (so often missing in modern hybrids found at "big box" garden centers). Your plants are allowed to grow as Mother Nature intended, adding height and movement to the garden, plants that sway with the breeze. You’ll experience the old-fashioned annuals that self-sow quite easily (again, unlike modern hybrids), delighting you with lots of free plants each year—along with the serendipitous and surprising flowering combinations they provide.
